# Federation

Use the Federation API to connect your workspace with external servers, enabling cross-workspace communication and collaboration. These endpoints allow you to manage federated servers, discover shared rooms, and join public conversations hosted outside your organization.

With the Federation API, you can:

- Add and manage federated servers to establish trusted connections.
- View configured servers within your federation network.
- Remove federated servers when they are no longer required.
- Search for public rooms across federated environments.
- Join external public rooms to collaborate beyond your workspace.
